English Heritage Rules

Being an English Heritage property, Kenwood House has a few rules by which we hope you will join us in abiding.

They are mostly very obvious. It is a very old, very delicate house. It needs a bit of love and gentleness and looking after.

It's no smoking anywhere near the building. No naked flames.

If you are planning on baking for our dessert table - it's no berries or anything that might stain the soft furnishings or building.

Please do not be affronted if asked not to remove glassware from the building. Our brilliant catering team will be on enforcement duty.

If you have little ones - please be careful of the paintings and furniture. We are very up for letting kiddies roam during the service, but obviously we would ask you to keep a watchful eye!

Finally, it's a no confetti joint!*

*Booooo! Confetti Canons are one of Pia's favorite things. Along with Glitter Drops. And Gunge machines. And bouncy castles - which we were also not allowed!

About Kenwood House

For those of you who like a little history and a little art, Kenwood is a treasure trove! With a remarkable house come remarkable stories of the people who lived here. From Judge Lord Mansfield and his great niece Dido Belle, to brewing magnate Edward Cecil Guinness, 1st Earl of Iveagh, who bequeathed his outstanding art collection to the nation in 1927. From Rembrandt to Turner, Gainsborough to Vermeer there is something here to suit every taste. Please feel free to arrive early and take in the rest of the house. We are hoping to arrange some tours after the ceremony and before dinner too!
